Dealy: king of the flip-floppers...

Hi all...

Just set aside momentarily how Republican/Conservative Pat Dealy has falsely blamed me and Dems for Republican tax hikes, lied about groundwater contamination (at debate last Weds. @ Clinton Town Hall-- saying it was merely limited to just "a couple hotspots south of us"), lied about my Green Ribbon Task Force report (saying it called for shutting down DCRRA and two new landfills; it doesn't), doesn't even agree with former G.O.P. Co. Leg. Ed Haas and current G.O.P. Co. Leg. Marge Horton on need for bipartisan well-testing law for VOC's when properties change hands, thinks Lucille Pattison and the Poughkeepsie Journal are wrong re: need for campaign finance reform here as in Rockland County, wants seniors and the disabled to pay higher LOOP bus fares, has demagogued (along with other G.O.P.) cost-saving facts of PLA's and electrician licensing, doesn't even agree with his own campaign manager on need for tiny real estate transfer tax on sale of high-end properties to more fully fund farmland/open space protection-- while personally insulting me repeatedly-- even attacking me for not having a job even(!)...[I teach now at the Ridge School in Hyde Park; have been teaching in public and private schools for 22 years]...

Aside from all that, incredibly, Mr. Dealy has had gall to play serious games with us all re: debates...

[you thought John Kerry was a flip-flopper?...Dealy wanted 10/7 debate, then reneged, now wants it!]

Aug. 4th: Pat Dealy emails me challenging me to debate Sept. 23rd, Oct. 7th, and Oct. 21st.

Aug. 4th: I email Dealy back within an hour on same day-- yes to Sept. 23rd, Oct. 7th, Oct. 21st debates.

Aug. 4th-Sept. 5th: Pat Dealy waits a month to respond to my Aug. 4 response agreeing to 3 debates.

Sept. 23rd: We debate in Clinton; Dealy lies in debate re: groundwater contamination & my RRA report.

Sept. 27th: Daily Freeman article on page 3-- about how I'll be debating Dealy Oct. 7th in Rhinebeck.

Sept. 28th: Dealy calls me telling me he's reneging on his commitment for Oct. 7th Rhinebeck debate.

Sept. 29th: I send out email to my list and press release to media on Dealy's reneging re: 10/7 debate.

Sept. 30th: I get word from Dealy's campaign: Dealy does, after all, want debate in Rhinebeck Oct. 7th.

Oct. 2nd: Today I still haven't been informed exactly where Rhinebeck debate next Weds. (10/7) will be.

[apparently G.O.P. plan is to wait 'til last minute to let us all know where debate next Weds. 10/7 will be;
gosh: you wouldn't suppose this would be because they want advance notice while giving Dems none]

Check door of Rhinebeck Town Hall next Weds. and my blog for details on when debate will be Weds...

If you run into Mr. Dealy please ask him for a favor-- to stop playing games with people in Rhinebeck...

The man isn't even in office yet and he's politically jerking around local folks...

As I have been from the beginning I stand more than ready to debate Mr. Dealy any time, anywhere...

And apparently Mr. Dealy and I will be debating next Wednesday in Rhinebeck at 7:30 pm...

[...just that it seems Dealy will be letting us all know where that is when he and G.O.P. feel like it...]

Pathetic.

Here below is the letter Pat Dealy sent to me Aug. 4th (I answered same day with response below):

[again-- question still is: why did Dealy literally take a month to answer my email a bit below?]

From: Pat Dealy

Date: Aug 4, 2009

Hello Joel;

My name is Pat Dealy and I am seeking to represent the people of Clinton and Rhinebeck in the County Legislature on November 3rd.

I bet you share my enthusiasm for giving the voters a chance to see us discuss our qualifications, ideas, and records in person.

Please accept my invitation to appear at two "town-hall" style forums (September 23rd at the Clinton Town Hall and October 7th at the Rhinebeck Town Hall). On September 23rd, let's discuss property taxes and the County Budget and on October 7th, we should cover other issues of specific interest to the people of Clinton and Rhinebeck like the LOOP service, Dutchess Community College, and the RRA. Both meetings should encourage a free-flowing dialogue with voters.

On October 21st, we should have a debate at the high school along the lines of your debate with Ray Oberly in 2007. I thought, as a voter, that is was an effective venue.

I invite you to work with me to establish some ground rules and to identify and recruit fair and effective moderators.

I look forward to working with you.

Sincerely,

Pat Dealy

Hi Pat!...

Hello Joel;

My name is Pat Dealy and I am seeking to represent the people of Clinton and Rhinebeck in the County Legislature on November 3rd.

I hear!...may the best man win...

I bet you share my enthusiasm for giving the voters a chance to see us discuss our qualifications, ideas, and records in person.

Amen...

I'm ok for all three of those!...

[...and hopefully Clinton United or the Clinton Business Association or some other organization will sponsor the traditional Friday-in-October candidates night for Clinton Town Board candidates and county legislator candidates as well...]

I look forward to working with you.

Sounds good...

Hm...ground rules...how about two-minute openers, two-minute closers, 1-minute rebuttals allowed to other's answers to questions, flip of coin to see who goes first?...

[or...three-minute openers, two-minute closers?...your thoughts?]

As for moderators...hm...can we possibly get folks from Mid-Hudson League of Women Voters?...(see http://midhudson.ny.lwvnet.org/ ; I've found them to be pretty fair in the past)...
